The further away from your laptop, the better your ideas

Ideas are random.

They come to you in the oddest of moments.

The oddest of places.

Mostly when you are not thinking about the thing that you should be thinking about.

Hmmm.

I have never had a great idea when sitting in front of my laptop.

Today, I found myself going for a sea swim with a good friend.

No wetsuits, just a t-shirt and shorts.

For the first 10 minutes, my only idea was of survival.

(And breathe. And breathe. You can do this.)

Then we got used to the cold and randomly started laughing like school kids.

It turned into a moment that wouldn’t be forgotten.

I felt alive.

I felt all was possible.

The thing with ideas is to create a space in your head to let the magic happen.

And sitting in front of a computer is not that space.

The laptop is the place you write it down.

Not think it up.

Log off.

Go live.
